Description
Designed by Jamie Wolfond, the Contra Floor Lamp is defined by its long, curved reach and the visual tension of a shade suspended well beyond its base. Powder-coated steel forms the sweeping arm, while a spun aluminium shade and injection-moulded PMMA diffuser soften the lamp’s architectural scale with an even, atmospheric glow. A coloured cement base provides the necessary weight and stability.
Its counterweighted mechanism is the practical centre of the design. A subtle twist allows the arm to move smoothly through an approximate height range of 300–2600mm, bringing light closer for reading or lifting it above a dining or meeting setting. Sideways rotation at the base adds further flexibility, helping the lamp adapt without requiring furniture to be rearranged around it.
Expansive yet controlled, Contra gives living rooms, home offices and workplace settings the reach of overhead lighting without a ceiling connection.
The user-replaceable LED provides 750 lumens at full brightness, with stepless dimming, a warm 2700K colour temperature and CRI above 90. Lumen maintenance exceeds 35,000 hours at 80%, supporting dependable use over time.
