Designed by Tom Dixon in 2026, the Cast Iron Shoe Doorstop recasts a classic gentleman’s brogue as an object of practical wit. Its elongated toe, raised heel, punched detailing and moulded laces are rendered in solid cast iron, preserving the recognisable language of traditional footwear while giving it an unexpected architectural weight.

Each piece is individually sand-cast and finished in a durable matte black powder coating. Subtle variations in texture remain visible across the surface, reflecting the character of the casting process and ensuring that no two examples are entirely alike. The monochrome finish brings the decorative detailing into quiet relief, allowing the object to feel playful without becoming ornamental.

Its substantial weight keeps doors reliably in place, whether positioned in a living room, dining area, home office or shared workplace. The low, extended profile sits discreetly at floor level, while the heel provides a useful point for lifting and repositioning it as needed. When not holding a door, the Cast Iron Shoe can remain in view as a curious floor sculpture, bringing personality to a hallway, shelving arrangement or office interior.
